Annie Taylor: A Very Swiss Band
Annie Taylor is girl grunge and psychedelic rock with a touch of cheesy darkpop. They love the alps, chocolate, cheese, and they’re from Switzerland if you haven’t already guessed. Annie Taylor formed in 2016 when Gini, singer & guitarist, forced her roommate to rehearse with her in their living room. Eventually the duo became a quartet.
They named the band after the first woman to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel and survive. In 1901, Annie Edson Taylor was a 63-year-old schoolteacher, in need of cash and seeking fame. Taylor came up with the perfect stunt: She would go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. She wasn’t the first to go over the falls, but she was the first to survive. You can read more about her story here.
In 2018, the band, Annie Taylor played with LA. Witch, Sunflower Bean, Las Robertas, TsuShiMaMiRe, Kadavar, and DeWolff. This year, Annie Taylor has released two new songs (Under Your Spell and S.L.E.E.P.) off of their upcoming debut EP ‘Not Yours!’ which releases near the end of April.
Annie Taylor reminds me of: driving down PCH on a Saturday in spring while wearing a leather jacket.
